OSRS Gemstone Crab Guide
1. What is the Gemstone Crab
- The Gemstone Crab is a new Varlamore boss designed for AFK-friendly combat.
- It has infinite health and never dies — instead it relocates every 10 minutes.
- The Crab only deals tiny damage (max hit = 1), so it’s very safe.
- After burrowing, it leaves behind a shell you can mine for gem rewards.
2. Requirements & Access
- Unlock the Tlai Rainforest / Tal Teklan area through Varlamore progression.
- A pickaxe is required to mine the remains.
- Bring a Gem bag or plenty of inventory slots for loot.
- Some quests may be needed (e.g. Children of the Sun).
3. Location & Spawn Mechanics
- The Crab has multiple fixed spawn points in Tal Teklan.
- It stays at one spot for ~10 minutes, then burrows and moves.
- Caves connect spawn points, allowing players to follow quickly.
4. Combat & Strategy
- Focus on maximum DPS gear — defense isn’t needed.
- All combat styles work (melee, ranged, magic).
- Minimal attention required — ideal for semi-AFK training.
- Move quickly when it relocates to reduce downtime.
5. Rewards
- Combat XP is gained continuously while attacking.
- Mining the shell grants uncut gems such as:
Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby, Diamond, Opal, Jade, Red Topaz, Dragonstone.
- Only the top 16 damage dealers can mine the shell at each spawn.
- Use a Gem bag or bank often to avoid missing loot.
6. Tips & Best Practices
- Use best DPS gear (e.g. Whip, Blowpipe, Trident).
- Time the burrow — be ready to move when it happens.
- Contribute enough damage to stay in the top 16.
- Keep inventory clear for gems.
- Perfect for AFK sessions while working or multitasking.
7. Potential Drawbacks
- Downtime when it relocates (every 10 minutes).
- Hardcore Ironmen can technically die if careless.
- Rare gems aren’t guaranteed — drops can be streaky.
- Combat XP rates are lower than high-risk bosses.
The Gemstone Crab is a chill, low-risk boss great for AFK combat training and gem farming!
